We provide a full service repair department, which is staffed with highly qualified experienced people whose passion is bikes. The Pony Shop has always been a great place to wrench on bikes and improve your skills. Some of our former employees have moved on to wrench for professional cycling teams, and we have a former employee who now teaches bicycle mechanics and writes a colomn for a national cycling magazine. We had the first two mechanics in Chicago ever to pass the B.S.E Certification test (Bicycle Standard of Excellence). The Pony Shop uses the best tools and training to make certain you get the best service. Some of our services are listed here. Basic Tune-up

Includes adjustment of all bearing surfaces (headset, bottom bracket, front & rear hubs), adjustment of both derailleurs (including lubrication of pivots, cables, housing, and chain), adjustment of both brakes (including lubrication of pivots, cables, and housing), truing of both wheels (alignment, including spoke tension and wheel dish check), a torque check on all nuts & bolts, and of course, inflation of tires to maximum pressure.

Deluxe Tune-up

Includes everything covered by the basic tune-up plus a removal and cleaning of the drivetrain (derailleurs, crank, chain, and cassette/freewheel). Having a clean drivetrain greatly reduces wear on the parts involved, so they will last much longer before wearing out.

Drivetrain Cleaining

Includes cleaning minus the tune-up.

Overhaul

Includes everything covered by the deluxe tune-up PLUS overhauling and re-packing all bearing surfaces, a complete stripdown and cleaning of the frame, as well as all labor for replacing cables, brake pads, etc.

Frame Swap / Custom Bike Building

Includes assembly/reassembly from the ground up.

Custom Wheel Building

Per wheel - We'll help you to pick out hubs, spokes, and rims to have wheels custom built to suit your riding needs/style.

Bike Packing / Shipping

Includes all packaging materials, insurance up to $1000, and shipping to anywhere in the continental U.S.

Bike Packing (Only)

Includes all packaging materials and labor, shipping/transport is left up to customer.
